Board of Selectmen's Minutes - September 21, 2006 (Public Hearing)

Public Hearing
September 21, 2006

Present: First Selectman Woody Bliss; Selectman W. Glenn Major; Selectman Richard Miller; Town Administrator; Tom Landry; Administrative Assistant Judy DeVito, Chair of the Commission for the Elderly, Carlton Anderson.

This meeting was recorded and video taped and the tapes are available in the Selectman’s office and the Building Department, respectively, for further reference.

Mr. Bliss called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.

Carlton Anderson said he has come before the Board of Selectmen to ask that they change the name of the Commission for the Elderly to the Commission on Aging. He said in the State of Connecticut they have changed their name to the Commission on Aging.

Meter Schroeder; Lois Miller; Joe Spetly all spoke in favor of the name change. Mr. Spetly said they had a vote at this week’s senior luncheon and they voted 41 to 4 in favor of changing the name.

At 7:10 Mr. Miller made a motion to close the public hearing. Mr. Major seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
