Special Board of Selectmen’s Meeting
March 12, 2007
 
Present:  Selectman Richard Miller; Town Administrator Tom Landry; Administrative Assistant Judy DeVito; Members of Weston Arts.
 
This meeting was recorded the tape is available in the Selectmen’s office.
 
Mr. Major joined the meeting by telephone.
 
Mr. Miller called the meeting to order at 10:15am.
 
Discussion/ decision to call Special Town Meeting to forward on to the BOF a proposal to reallocate the remaining 2.9 million dollars from the Middle School Auditorium to renovate the High School Auditorium and repair/replace the High School Roof.
 
Mr. Landry said that the town would transfer an appropriation and bond authorization in the amount of $2,890,000 from the Middle School Auditorium project to the replacement of the roof at the Weston High School, and for the planning, design and renovation of the auditorium at Weston High School,
 
An additional appropriation for these purposes by using $144,000 from the Town’s unreserved general fund balance and $236,000 from the Town’s capital improvement projects budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007.
 
After some discussion it was decided that we would do everything within the dollars that were already allocated and that we would not need to use any general fund balance.
 
At 10:22am Mr. Bliss joined the meeting by telephone.
 
Mr. Miller read the resolution to Mr. Bliss.
 
Mr. Major went on record as saying that even thought we were not appropriating an amount from the general fund at this point that that does not means that we are not putting up the 1.3 million that we anticipated.
 
Mr. Miller made a motion for the resolution to call a Special Town Meeting to votewhereas at its meeting held on March 12, 2007, the following:Board of Selectmen recommend that the Town of Weston transfer an appropriation and bond authorization in the amount of $2,890,000 from the Middle School Auditorium project to the replacement of the roof at Weston High School, and for the planning, design and renovation of the auditorium at Weston High School, and
 
Whereas at its meeting held on March 12, 2007, the Board of Selectmen recommend that the Town of Weston transfer an appropriation and bond authorization in the amount of $2,890,000 from the Middle School Auditorium project to the replacement of the roof at Weston High School, and for the planning, design and renovation of the auditorium at Weston High School, and therefore,
 
Be it resolved, that the attached detailed appropriation and bonding resolution for the projects (the “Resolution”) are hereby approved and shall be submitted to a Special Town Meeting to be held on Thursday, March 22, 2007, in accordance with the attached Notice of Special Town Meeting, which is also hereby approved. Mr. Major seconded. The vote was Mr. Miller, Mr. Major yes. We had lost Mr. Bliss on the phone at that point, but he called back and voted yes.
 
Adjournment: At 10:32am Mr. Miller made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Major seconded and the motion passed.
