September 4, 2007

Meeting called to order at 7:32 PM
 
Commission Members Present: Rick Phillips, William Brady, Peter Ottomano, Beth Gralnick, Rick Saltz and Jess DiPasquale
 
 
  1. Mr. Phillips informed the Commission that he had been advised by representatives of the Freedom of Information Act Commission in Hartford that the Commission may meet in private as a full group to discuss candidacies for the open Chief of Police position.  Such a meeting would not fall under FOI meeting rules and the group would be titled a Personnel Search Committee.  Accordingly, Mr. Phillips requested that a motion be made to remove item #6, Review of Candidates for Police Chief Position, from the agenda as the review would be handled by the Personnel Search Committee.  Mr. Ottomano made the motion, Mr. Brady seconded and the vote was all in favor.
 
  1. Consideration/Approval of Minutes of August 7 ,2007
 
Motion made by Ms. Gralnick to accept the minutes as presented.  Motion seconded by Mr. Ottomano and the vote was all in favor.
 
 
  1. Chief’s Report for August 2007
 
Chief Troxell handed out work and training schedules for August 2007 as well as the year to date budget report and various other reports for discussion.
 
  1. Discussion of speed control techniques.
 
Mr. Phillips informed the Board that Officer Brodacki had more work to do on the presentation and that it would be ready for the October meeting.  Item tabled until October.
 
  1. Presentation on Computer Crimes Task Force
Assistant States Attorney, Richard Colangelo, addressed the Board on the actions of the Task Force, which is a committee formed by State Attorney General Richard Blumenthal to investigate computer crimes against State residents.  He mentioned that participation on the Task Force is voluntary and that it could use the talents of Officer Brodacki and other members of the Weston PD in staffing.  The Commission suggested that he work with Acting Chief Troxell on manpower requirements and scheduling.
 
  1. Stamford Bomb Squad Mutual Aid Compact and Demonstration
 
Representatives of the Stamford Bomb Squad demonstrated their equipment to the Commission and offered assistance to the Town of Weston should we ever require it.

Commissioner Gralnick made a motion to adjourn, motion seconded by Commissioner DiPasquale.
