At Weston History & Culture Center
WESTON, CT – Calling all 5th – 8th graders interested in history and photography! Join us for History Through a Lens, a three-class workshop - Sat. Aug. 23, Sat. Sept.13 and Sat. Sept. 27 - from 10am – 11:30am at the Weston History & Culture Center in Weston, CT. Advanced registration is required. Register at: https://westoncthistory.org. History will come to life through the camera as students dive into photographs from the Weston History & Culture Center archives and uncover the stories they tell. Students will also have the opportunity to become the storyteller themselves. They’ll learn how to capture powerful images that express their own unique perspectives of the world around them. Whether you have a budding photographer, a history buff, or both, this hands-on journey will inspire them to see photography in a new light.
No prior experience is required. Bring a camera or smartphone to capture photos. Please let us know if you don’t have one and we will provide one to share. Taught by Kira Joshi and Samantha Fargione, Executive Director of the Weston History & Culture Center.
Kira is a high school Junior in New York City, and is very passionate about history, photography, and specifically, the art of storytelling through photography. In 2024, Kira won a Scholastic Silver Key award and 2 Scholastic Honorable Mentions for her photography and was selected to be the photo editor for her school newspaper.
