TOWN OF WESTON SEEKS FEEDBACK FOR ADA COMPLIANCE
The Town of Weston invites you to discuss the accessibility of Town facilities and parks for people with disabilities. Your view is important, and this is an opportunity to make your opinion known. See below for more information, and feel free to pass this invitation on to others who have a disability and are interested in Town sites, access, and inclusion.
On Thursday, October 9th from 10:00-11:30am, the Town of Weston will conduct a meeting to hear feedback about the accessibility of facilities and parks. This will be an in-person meeting, and will be held in the Town Hall Meeting Room located at 56 Norfield Road, Weston, CT 06883.
A second meeting will be held on Thursday, October 9th from 6:00-7:30pm. This is another opportunity to hear feedback about the accessibility of facilities and parks. This will be an in-person meeting, and will be held in the Town Hall Meeting Room located at 56 Norfield Road, Weston, CT 06883.
A third opportunity to provide feedback comes in the form of a survey. Though not required, this survey pairs well with an in-person session to learn more about the project and requirements. Your feedback is anonymous and is used to improve efforts from the Town. Take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WestonADA
The Western Connecticut Council of Governments (WestCOG) retained the W-T Group (WTG) Accessibility Practice in 2024 to develop transition plans for facilities and parks within its communities, as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). A transition plan identifies access barriers, and phases the retrofit work over time. Shelley Zuniga is a Senior Project Manager at WTG, and she will coordinate the first portion of the meeting. In the meeting, WTG will:
· Review key ADA requirements for facilities and parks
· Discuss the importance of community feedback in establishing retrofit priorities
· Share observations of access barriers viewed at the Town of Weston sites
· Ask for the access preferences and priorities of the members of the public in attendance
· Close with a discussion about next steps for the Town of Weston
Registration is requested. To register, please reach Darcy Hawes, Executive Assistant at executiveassistant@westonct.gov. If a modification is needed to participate because of disability, such as a sign language interpreter, please advise when registering.
If there are any questions, contact Shelley Zuniga with the WT Group at 224-293-6452 or szuniga@wtgroup.com, or Darcy Hawes at executiveassistant@westonct.gov.
Thank you in advance for helping the Town of Weston with our ADA Transition Plan.
