Veterans Day 2025

November 11 

The Weston Veterans Affairs Group invites you to join in celebration of this great day. We are seeking new Weston “veteran” residents.  We encourage and hope that you will join us for this celebration 

Veterans Day Ceremony at Weston Town Hall for Veterans and the Community

11:00-11:45  Town Hall Veterans Day Ceremony (Town Hall based on weather) 

  • Welcome and Recap of Veterans Day Committee Events
  • National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance by Weston High School Choral Group
  • Presentation of the Wreath by American Heroes Club
  • Opening remarks from First Selectwoman Sam Nester on Town Green
  • Prayer Offering
  • Veterans Day Remembrance Remarks: James Day, US Navy
  • Presentation of Veterans Day Thank You Cards from Weston Daizy and Brownie Troops

 


Events just for our Veterans

Weston Middle School
8:00 – 8:40
Continental Breakfast in the Weston Middle School Cafeteria for Veterans provided by teachers, staff and 6th grade students (park behind the Middle School for easy access to cafeteria)   

Following breakfast, the student body will honor Veterans in the Gym This is the highlight...the three Middle school grades perform for and honor the Veterans, A Red, White and Blue Extravaganza!) -Living History Session in the Library.  (some of our Veterans will summarize  their service experience to small groups of 8th grade  students) 

10:40 Depart for Town Hall 

11:00-11:45  Town Hall Veterans Day Ceremony (Town Hall based on weather)

11:50AM  Depart for Weston High School 

12:00 Lunch at Weston High School Cafeteria with students 

1:00-2:00pmWHS students hosting a panel of Veterans discussing their service experience. 

2pm Panel concludes

Memorial Day 2025

Calling and inviting all Weston Veterans and Families!! The Town’s Veterans Affairs Group has arranged a continental breakfast for Veterans and their immediate family on Monday, May 26th, before the WVFD parade and ceremony on the Town Green. Continental breakfast is from 8-9:30 am in the Weston Library Community Room.

Restrooms available.

At 9:15 and 9:30 AM, transport has been arranged to take you to the parade. Or, you can walk to the nearby Town Green for Parade finish and the Ceremony.

The Weston Boy Scouts will decorate the Community Room and the WHS American Heroes Club have designed a Town Green Flag Display .

Please RSVP so we have enough for everyone to enjoy a delicious breakfast. Parking should be available at 8:30 AM at the Library/Hurlbutt parking lots.

Weston Veteran’s Memorial, Weston Town Green at Town Hall at 11 AM

  

Events for Veterans 

  • 8:00 AM Continental Breakfast for veterans and their spouses (in the Weston Middle School Cafeteria for Veterans, followed by an all-school Assembly to honor Veterans/. This is the highlight...the three Middle school grades perform for Veterans, A Red, White and Blue Extravaganza! Followed by the Living History Session in the Library (some of our Vets will give informal recaps of their service experience to small groups of 8th grade students)
  • 11:10 AM Remembrance Service at Town Hall Green (all residents invited)
  • Noon Lunch for Veterans at Weston High School and visits by students
  • Weston High School (American Hero’s Club) organize a discussion panel with Veterans, about experiences, the draft, re-entering the work force, etc.

Weston’s  Veterans Affairs Group has arranged a continental breakfast for Veterans and their immediate family on Monday, May 27th, before the Weston Volunteer Fire Dept parade and Noon Ceremony on the Weston Town Green. Continental breakfast is from 8-9:30 AM in the Weston Library Community Room.  Library Restrooms available. At 9:15 and 9:30 AM, transport has been arranged to take you to the parade.   Or, you can walk to the adjacent Town Green for the Parade Finish and  Ceremony.
